Software

Knowledge of computer hardware and software programs, which may

include Microsoft Office, Internet applications, econometric or transportation modeling,

database management, or GIS programs. Knowledge of Ajera Complete is a plus.

Skills

Oral and written communication skills, planning, teamwork, decision making, judgment, problem solving and ability to coordinate with other members of a project team.

 

This position requires basic knowledge within one or more planning specialties such as master drainage planning, all-hazards mitigation planning and emergency management planning. Basic knowledge of planning principles and practices. Devotes a significant amount of time on routine administrative tasks. Supports staff on a regular basis to provide client customer service on planning issues.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Researches and compiles information on a variety of planning issues from multiple sources.

  • Prepares public notices, property owner verifications, maps, and charts.

  • Attends meetings, assisting other planning staff as appropriate.

  • Interprets and applies applicable state, county and local codes, ordinances, and regulations.

  • Knowledge of comprehensive plan and land development regulations.

  • Conducts extensive research in specific or general project areas.

  • Writes and presents formal and technical reports, working papers, and correspondence.

  • Recommends adequacy of community facilities in meeting current and projected needs.

  • Recommends priorities, schedules, and funding sources to implement public improvements plan.

  • Ability to assist in writing a variety of ordinances and regulations relating to development controls.

  • Knowledge of effective writing techniques.

  • Knowledge of or experience in community remediation and redevelopment, and knowledge of relevant Federal programs.

  • Interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates assignments.

  • Demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

  • Displays effective time management.

Candidate must possess an Oklahoma Driver’s License and have reliable transportation to and from work. Out of town work for short periods of time may be required for the position.

Must be willing to relocate to Tulsa or Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
