EI License; working toward the PE exam

Experience

1 to 3 years of experience

Software

Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Storm CAD and MicroStation. Knowledge of Ajera Complete is a plus.

Skills

Drafting knowledge, oral and written communication skills, planning, teamwork, decision making, judgment, problem solving and ability to coordinate with other members of a project team.

 

The Engineering Intern possesses basic knowledge and develops basic civil engineering skills. Applies prescribed techniques and procedures in accordance with established criteria to perform assigned tasks. Performs routine technical work which does not require previous experience. Acquires an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

The Engineering Intern will have the following duties:

  • Assists on other tasks such as: preparation of permit applications, material testing, drawings, and computer- aided design (CAD) work.

  • Completes general fieldwork as necessary to assess site conditions and determine survey requirements for new projects, as well as construction inspection.

  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Assists in the application of civil engineering design services including municipal, County and ODOT roadway, commercial site development, and stormwater modeling and design projects.

  • Prepares drafts of construction plans to clearly illustrate the project for the contractor, resident engineer and others involved in the project.

  • Develops plans and estimates costs for installation of systems, utilization of facilities, or construction of structures.

  • Drafts detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for projects to ensure conformance to specifications.

  • Analyzes proposed site factors and design plans, graphs, tracings, and diagrams to illustrate findings.

  • Reads and reviews project blueprints and structural specifications to determine dimensions of structure or system and material requirements.

  • Estimates costs, assists in preparing proposals as well as establishing completion dates.

  • Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for projects.

  • Mentors junior staff and assists in the training of new employees in standard practices and procedures.

  • Displays effective time management.

Candidate must possess an Oklahoma Driver’s License and have reliable transportation to and from work. Out of town work for short periods of time may be required for the position.

Must be willing to relocate to Tulsa, Oklahoma.
