Citywide GIS Implementation
City of Enid, Oklahoma
The City of Enid used to have only outdated and inaccurate CAD-based atlases for their utilities. The City had no digital information for other key municipal datasets, other than disconnected and incomplete spreadsheets, paper, and databases.
The City realized this wasn’t sustainable, and GIS was their solution. Meshek performed their GIS Needs Assessment in 2007, providing recommendations for acquiring ArcGIS software, hardware, and hiring their own GIS staff. There was a significant backlog of data to develop, just to catch up.
We’ve since partnered with the City on many projects, including:
Water and Sanitary Sewer atlas updates, including GPS-locating of Water and Sanitary Sewer features, and incorporating as-built plans (with the plan PDFs linked to the features).
Zoning, city limits, annexation and other ordinances, and easements mapping (with the underlying legal documents attached to the features).
Updating their County’s parcel file with parcel lines adjusted to ground features and survey data.
Deploying ArcGIS Enterprise on their server, with all data and maps hosted there, including assisting with integration with Cartegraph.
Assisting in obtaining their first Enterprise Agreement.
City staff now maintain their own maps and data, but we still assist on an as-needed basis, particularly in Enterprise administration.
