ArcGIS Online Migration and MS4 Program
City of McAlester, Oklahoma
In previous years, Meshek had assisted the City with GIS data conversion and setup.
In 2021, Meshek advised the City of McAlester to obtain ArcGIS Online and begin the process of migrating their existing maps and data to it, to allow for collaborative online-based mapping. The City agreed, and the process began. The project included the transfer of all data and apps created by Meshek as part of their GIS implementation to ArcGIS Online.
Meshek led the configuration of ArcGIS Online user accounts and provided training on how to manage data in ArcGIS Online.
Meshek also assisted McAlester with their MS4 permitting to perform their federally mandated inventory and inspection of Stormwater outfalls, to locate any potentially environmentally impactful releases into the natural drainage system. We began providing this service before ArcGIS Online was created; in the current approach, we utilize Field Maps to collect the data and Dashboards to report it. This project includes an interactive Dashboard for data viewing and a separate application for data collection and editing. This is not currently in the City’s own environment, but plans are in place to migrate the legacy inspection forms so the City will be able to do these inspections themselves.
